HIGHWAY 36 OVERPASS COMING DOWN

Workers are beginning to tear down the overpass at Highway 36 and Business 36 just north of Brenham.

The work is part of a 3.6-million dollar project that TxDOT claims will improve traffic safety in the area.36 DESTRUCTION

Last week a temporary traffic signal was activated at the Highway-36 and Business-36 intersection.

TxDot’s contractor is tearing down the overpass in order to install a permanent traffic intersection.

The project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2015.

  1. Wondering who really benefits the most from this TxDOT boondoggle. A large subdivision of deep pockets just just south of this intersection? People leaving Hohlt Park sports complex, BHS….. All will have the quick access to loop now without braking the law. Someone knocked loud enough on the right door to get it done.

  2. Being A Retired Structural Engineer This Is The Most Dum Thing The State can Do.They Have A Pefect Exit To Brenham Perfect Exit Coming South Leave The Bridge Build A new One Are To Lane Bridge Far People To Turn South Out Of Brenham.Widen The Lanes Acordingly North Bound Will Go Under Bridges. Then Save That Wasted Money To Build A South Bound Lanes Over The railroads .No Lights Will Be Necessary Keep the traffic flowing this is the 21 century.
You Should Have The Lanes If you Want to go South Onto 36 over pass merge into 36 south.a light wuill be nothing but a killer for moveing traffic and a death place waiting to happen.

    1. Sad part about about it attending these meetings when you bring up concerns he TxDot reps there basically laugh you off
I’ve been told from someone who’s cousin is a TxDot engineer that they get thousands of $ in bonuses to push projects through on time so making changes would hurt their pocket book. TxDot being short on cash & at salaries they already make no bonuses should be required to put public safety at risk
