HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES ACROSS THE BRAZOS VALLEY THIS WEEKEND

The holiday season is ramping up, and there are plenty of Christmas celebrations scheduled this weekend across the Brazos Valley.

Here are just a few of the events happening in the area:

  • Brenham has a slate of activities which began today (Friday) with the Jingle Bell Market and Farmers and Artisans Market, and continue tonight with the Tuba Christmas concert.  Tomorrow (Saturday) will feature Breakfast with Santa, the Sip, Shop and Stroll, and Santa’s Village, before rounding out with the lighting of the Christmas tree, the “Christmas Memories on Main” lighted parade, and rides on the 1950 Invader Fire Truck.  Visit http://jingle.cityofbrenham.org for more information.

  • Bellville’s 37th Annual Small Town Christmas celebration began Thursday with the Little Mister and Miss Small Town Christmas Pageant, and continues tonight in downtown.  Santa Claus will come to light the courthouse tree before the Small Town Christmas Parade.  Afterwards, there will be Mini-Park activities, a showing of “The Grinch”, and a street dance with the Red Bulls.  Continuing on Saturday, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand for breakfast, and there will be a Farmer’s Market and Market Day on the courthouse square.  To learn more, visit www.bellvillesmalltownchristmas.com.

  • The Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site will host Christmas on the Brazos today and tomorrow, featuring frontier festivities, visits with interpreters, and candlelit venues.  Attendees can walk the paths at Barrington Plantation, experience musket volleys from costumed reenactors, and tour the historic home of the last President of the Republic of Texas, Dr. Anson Jones.  Go online to http://wheretexasbecametexas.org for more info.

  • Sealy will have “Christmas in the Caribbean” with its 33rd Annual Fantasy of Lights today through Sunday.  A few of the activities include a barbecue cook-off, softball tournament, Jingle Bell Fun Run, sleigh and train rides, and the Fantasy of Lights Christmas parade Saturday night.  For more information, visit https://sealycommunityfoundation.weebly.com.

  • Giddings’ annual Christmas at the Courthouse Saturday will decorate the Lee County Courthouse Square in a fabulous holiday display, with lights and wreaths on all 70 windows.  The surrounding trees will also be decorated in white lights.  Meanwhile, live music and games will provide entertainment, and Santa and Mrs. Claus will take photos in the first floor courtroom.  Go to www.giddingstx.com to learn more.

  • Round Top will have a full day of festivities Saturday leading up to its annual Lighted Christmas Parade and Street Dance.   Guests can look forward to the Christmas Market on the Square, the Round Top Area Historical Society’s 22nd Annual Homes Tour, a children’s concert, visits with Santa, and of course the lighted parade floats.  For more information, go to www.exploreroundtop.com.

  1. Also, the Blinn Wind Symphony and Blinn Choirs presents “Sounds of the Season” on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 3:00 PM. This performance will be held at Festival Hill in Round Top, TX.

And on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 4:00 PM, it’s a great big western ho-ho-ho from “America’s Favorite Cowboys” Riders In The Sky! Christmas The Cowboy Way will feature their unique “brand” of cowboy humor sprinkled with a dash of holiday spice which includes original songs like “Riding Home On Christmas Eve,” “Deck The Bunkhouse Walls,” and “The Last Christmas Medley You’ll Ever Need To Hear.” You will also be invited to join Riders in singing traditional holiday classics such as “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and others. And all this yuletide charm is augmented with the classic, western favorites Riders have been singing for 30 years.
So put on your merry cheer and saddle up and ride! You’re invited to spend a holiday evening Christmas The Cowboy Way!
Tickets are $35 adults/$15 children under 10. Ticket sales at the door are not guaranteed.
