HOUSE TOTAL LOSS MAN BURNS HANDS IN FIRE

  

A 26-year old man suffered burn injuries and his house was completely destroyed in an early afternoon  house fire at 170 Alois Lane in Brenham today (Tuesday).

Brenham fire fighters found the house fully engulfed in flames when they came to the scene at one this (Tuesday) afternoon.  Daniel Bilski, a family friend, saw heavy smoke billowing out of the house of Frank Martinez and he went to check on him.  Bilski said Frank Martinez was in the burning house, pulling his step-son Edgar Hernandez out from the blaze.

A Washington County EMS ambulance transported Hernandez to the Scott and White Hospital in Brenham.  Among his injuries were badly burned hands.

Firefighters spent over an hour battling the blaze.  The walls were still standing but one firefighter said the house was structurally unsafe and will have to be torn down.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway.
