ILLEGAL DUMPING LEADS TO LARGE FIRE NEAR LaGRANGE

Illegal dumping led to a large fire near LaGrange Tuesday evening.  Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that Tuesday evening at 8:25, his office was notified that a large fire was burning on FM 3233 near George Road.  The LaGrange Fire Department responded and requested doziers be utilized to establish fire breaks.  Joe Rogers Dozier Service and the Texas Forest Service responded with doziers and extinguishing the blaze took several hours.  The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into how the debris caught on fire and who dumped the debris on the property.

  1. Dumping and Littering is out of hand. I don’t understand how people can throw trash out the window purposely without a conscience. How can they be Christian people and purposely litter up the county roads and country roads they travel every day? How can they clutter and trash the green earth given to us by the Lord God Almighty? What do they think when they drive by the next time and see the litter and devastation that they left behind the day before? I have a neighbor and he throws out cigarette butts, Marlboro light boxes, Dr. Pepper cans along my road all of the time. Does this guy hate God? Does he hate our country roads? Is it a hate crime against his neighbors? It is plain ridiculous. What should I do? Put a trash barrel by his gate with his name on it and personalize it? I just don’t get it. I can say this, “those that litter, evidently do not love and respect our countryside, and they do not deserve to be in our country and do not deserve to be landowners.”

  2. When I commented about an illegal fire east of Brenham and why, if it was already known to be illegal, the authorities did not cite or ticket anyone

Or they acted on common sense. I know it’s in short supply these days.

I’ll bet Sheriff Korenek in Fayette County will press charges when the culprits are found. Illegal dumping and illegal fires or nothing to dismiss without concern, as one small fire can quickly grow and burn scores of acres and possibly dwellings.
