JULY PERMITS BOOSTED BY REMODELING AT STARBUCKS

A permit for over $600,000 in remodeling top the building permits issued in July in Brenham.

A permit for interior remodeling at the Starbucks on Highway 290 West is valued at $623,000.

That helps bring the total value for the 36 permits issued in July to $2,105,503.  That total is lower than last year’s July total of $3.7-million for 33 permits.  The total a year ago was buoyed by the Pet Adoption Center permit worth $2.9-million.

For the year, the permits are still running well ahead of last year’s pace, at $32.8-million.  In 2015, the city had issued $21-million in permits through July.

Also in July, nine new residence permits were issued for a total of $990,540.

  1. I would be curious to hear reasons why we need a new city manager. From all indications, the city council and mayor seem to be completely satisfied with our current city manager and no serious complaints have been aired publically. Mr. Roberts appears to be a fine man of good character. Why the single voiced outcry to make a change?

  2. Big increase in building permits equals more property tax dollars for the city to spend. So what is council going to do? Raise your tax rate too! For more fat cat jobs in a bloated administration. VOTE them ALL OUT! New city Manager desperately needed.
