KIDS TO PARKS CELEBRATION SATURDAY IN BRENHAM

The City of Brenham encourages children to get out and visit their local parks this weekend, as part of Kids to Parks (KTP).

Brenham’s celebration of KTP Day will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., beginning at Fireman’s Park and finishing at the Blue Bell Aquatic Center.

Community Services Specialist Crystal Locke said the city is joining in on a national effort to support public parks.

Activities begin at Fireman’s Park at 9 a.m., with kids outdoor photography with Scott Hill of the Brenham Portrait Gallery.  Guests are encouraged to bring their camera phones to take pictures.

Following at 10 a.m., Texas Master Naturalist Debra Healy will hold an interactive story-time on monarch butterflies and honey bees.  Then at 11 a.m., there will be a family yoga session with personal trainer Michelle Rigsby.

Activities will move over to the Blue Bell Aquatic Center at noon with a water safety demonstration, then a free swim in the outdoor leisure pool from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
