KWHI CELEBRATES AFRICAN-AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH

  

February is designated as “African-American History Month”, with a theme of “Important African American Heritage Sites”.

KWHI will celebrate these important sites by airing short programs recorded by students on KWHI-AM 1280 and TV Cable Channel 96 this week

Hear these programs today (Monday) through Friday at 7:48am and 5:52pm.

  1. Amen Chappell Hill resident. This history information SHOULD be in our childrens text books. That is up to the state board of education, and IF we elect the right folks to that job, it will be in those history books!

  2. I don’t really understand why this is even necessary! People talk all the time about being “unified” and eliminating racial tension. Why not have “American History Month” and include ALL races in it? If someone attempted to have “white” or “Caucasian” history month, they would be labeled as racist for sure. The racial divide will only begin to cease when we make conscious decisions to avoid separating/celebrating and organizing segments of our society by race. Cut out all this nonsense about black lives matter, police lives matter, Hispanic firefighter association, Asian police association, and on and on…….get back to basics and let’s celebrate HUMANITY and the things we can do when we all work together as one body!
