KWHI ISSUES STORY RETRACTION
The Brenham Police Department has corrected a news release they gave to the media on November 24th concerning a marijuana possession arrest.
25 year old Zachery Connor Sumrall of Brenham was arrested on Saturday, November 22nd in the 700 block of Weldon Trace following a fight with two males. Sumrall was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under two ounces. Corporal Chris Jackson of the Brenham Police Department says there was a miscommunication between the arresting officers and the criminal investigator assigned to the case. Jackson says Sumrall did not tell officers he had sold anyone marijuana, as the case report indicates. Sumrall reported to the officers that the men stole his possessions valued at $820.
In the original story, KWHI had incorrectly listed other charges for Sumrall, charges that actually belonged to a suspect in another case. KWHI apologizes for the mistake.
