LEMAN NAMED TO NEW DRIVER’S LICENSE COMMITTEE

Rep. Ben Leman
(R-Anderson)

District 13 State Representative Ben Leman has been appointed to the newly created House Select Committee on Driver's License Issuance and Renewal.

Earlier this week, the Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives created the committee to examine opportunities to expedite the driver's license renewal process.

The committee will focus on long wait times, physician waivers for eye exams, redundant fingerprinting, and opportunities to complete the renewal online.

The committee is also tasked to review the feasibility of permanently transferring the licensing programs from the Texas Department of Public Safety to the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles.

  1. First step, stop the requirement to furnish a birth certificate to 60 plus year old Texans that have had a license for decades to get a renewal, at least let them know before waiting in line for hours, and then get turned down, and have to go pay for services to get said documents. Then have to go wait in line again.
