LIFETIME LEARNING HOSTS ‘THE BOY WHO HARNESSED THE WIND’ FILM

Lifetime Learning is hosting a viewing of a movie based on their READ selection.

A free showing of "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind," this year's Washington County READ selection, is set for Tuesday in the Barnhill Center at the Historic Simon Theater in downtown Brenham.

The film, which premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival, is based on the true story of a young man, who built a windmill from scrap to bring electricity and water to his village in East Africa.

The film was written and directed by Academy Award nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor (Chew-it-tell Ej-ee-oh-for).

Ejiofor plays William's father and 13 year-old Kenyan actor Maxwell Simbe plays William.

The free showing of the film will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.  Doors open at 6 p.m.

The READ event will be held Friday at Unity Theatre in Brenham.
