LOBOS FINDS OVER 100 POUNDS OF MARIJUANA

Fayette County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Lobos topped off a busy week by seizing more than 100 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop Friday morning.

According to the sheriff’s office, a van was pulled over at approximately 9:30 a.m. at the 660 mile marker on Interstate 10 for a traffic violation.

After speaking with the vehicle’s occupants, Sgt. Randy Thumann suspected they were involved in transporting illegal narcotics and consent was given to search the vehicle.

During the search, Lobos located 105 pounds of marijuana inside floor compartments and in a large suitcase.

The driver, 29-year-old Javier Cardenas, and his 63-year-old passenger Francisco Tobias, both of Laredo, are charged with felony possession of marijuana.
