LOCAL 4H AG TOUR VISITS BRAZOS COUNTY FARMS

  

The annual 4-H Summer Ag Tour visited a pair of farms in southern Brazos County.

The group visited two farms belonging to David and Dalton Feldman.

The tour included demonstrations of equipment used in planting & harvesting, cost of equipment, technology, milo in silos & need for safety, flooding effects, seed costs & trade issues.

The group then went into the cotton fields, where they viewed the irrigation, spraying, fertilizer, insects, temperatures, bloom changes; pink/white, crop insurance and boll weevil eradication.

Students went into the corn fields get hands on experience in maturity & spacing of corn.

The annual tour has been sponsored  jointly by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service & Washington County Farm Bureau for over a decade. .
