LOCAL MAN ANNOUNCES FOR TEXAS DISTRICT 13 RACE

Another candidate has announced his candidacy for the Texas House District 13 Race.

Daniel McCarthy is in the process of acquiring the 500 signatures needed to allow him to be on the ballot.

This can be done instead of paying the $3,000 filing fee required to get his name on the ballot.

McCarthy is an employee of the Blue Bell Aquatic Center, is the 5th person to announce his candidacy to take over the seat after Lois Kolkhorst won her election to the state Senate seat on December 6.

McCarthy is an honorably discharged Marine, with eight years of tours overseas to Iraq and Aghanistan.

Other announced candidates are retired Army veteran Cecil Webster of Carmine, Burleson County attorney Leighton Schubert, Austin County Judge Carolyn Bilski and energy policy consultant Becky Berger of Schulenberg.
