LOCAL POLICE ISSUE WARRANT FOR DRIVER IN WEEKEND ACCIDENT

Brenham Police have issued a warrant for the driver of a vehicle that slammed into a local church, then fled the scene Friday night.

At around 8:00 p.m., emergency crews were called to the First Pentecostal Church at 1001 Prairie Lea St. in Brenham.  A vehicle with two people inside careened off a utility pole and ran into the church.

One of the occupants was injured and taken to the hospital by EMS ambulance.  The driver fled the scene and remains at large.

The street in front of the church was shut down for over an-hour-and-a-half.

The City of Brenham Electric Department had to replace the damaged electric pole.
