LONG SELECTED FOR COACHES HALL OF FAME
The winningest coach in Brenham Cubs baseball history is being inducted into the Baseball coaches’ hall of fame.
Coach Jim Long has been named to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
In seventeen season at the helm of the Cubs’ program, Long won 477 games, while leading the team to the playoffs every year.

The Cubs won 11 District Championships, advanced to the State Tournament five times—in 1999, 2003, 2009, 2010 and 2011.
The Cubs won the State Championship in 2010—their first in 22 years.
Long also served as president of the Coaches Association.
The Hall of Fame is housed at the Visitiors’ Center at Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham.
Long will be inducted at the THSBCA Annual Banquet, January 15 at the Waco Convention Center.
Congrats to Coach Long! My oldest son had the privilege of playing for Coach Long from 2008 to 2011 and enjoyed three trips to the State Tournament those years, winning in 2010. He knew how to get the best out of each and every player! At the parent meeting prior to the season he told us not only would he teach our boys baseball but teach them how to be men and how to be successful in life as well. And he did! Thank you Coach Long for some wonderful high school baseball memories for my son!
Congratulations to Coach Long. He was a great coach but an even better man. He taught us more than just baseball. He taught us about life, how to become men, with strong moral character. You deserve it coach!
