A longtime Washington County and community activist has died.

Frank Blizzard, who was crucial to the development of the Washington County Healthy Living Association, died Wednesday afternoon, after a long battle with Merkel cell carcinoma, an extremely aggressive form of skin cancer.

Blizzard was named Washington County’s “Man of the Year” in 2017 by the Chamber of Commerce, and was a devoted supporter of the Boys and Girls Club of Washington County.

The WCHLA center, which opened in February of 2016, is named in honor of Blizzard’s wife, Margaret.

Funeral arrangements for Frank Blizzard are scheduled for Monday at 1 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  There will be a reception at the Margaret E. Blizzard Senior Center, following the service.  Visitation will be held Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.  Services are in the care of Memorial Oaks Chapel.
