A Harris County man connected to a burglary and theft late last year at a local business has been taken into custody.

28-year-old Brandon Hartshorne was transferred Tuesday to the Washington County Jail, where he is being held on two counts of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Burglary of a Building, and Theft.

On December 2nd, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene of a reported burglary of a business in the 7900 block of Highway 290 East.  It was reported that a suspect had stolen a van and trailer that were on location, and had used the vehicles to steal a Harley Davidson motorcycle, along with numerous other items kept on site.

During investigation, officials identified Hartshorne as a suspect, and issued felony arrest warrants on December 6th.  Investigators learned that Hartshorne was previously being held in the Harris County Jail on other charges.  A hold was placed on him for Washington County, and he was transferred.

The case was investigated by Sergeant Mitch Dreyer who, while working with the Houston Police Department and Harris County Sheriff’s Office, recovered the stolen property. According to Sheriff Otto Hanak, officials in Harris County never said what Hartshorne was being held in custody for.

Hartshorne remains in Washington County custody, on bonds totaling $100,000.
