Reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety say Pedro Cisneros was traveling southbound in an older model Mazda when he spotted a stranded vehicle at about 7pm Friday. His wife told troopers he was backing up to help the vehicle and said to her ‘I hope no one hits us.’

A Ford pick up truck, driven by a Navasota woman did hit Cisneros and he was dead at the scene.  The wife, 54-year old Maria Cruz, was taken to the College Station Medical Center where she was last reported to be in critical condition.

Johanna Blevins of Navasota was the driver of the pickup truck.  She suffered minor injuries and was released.  Her 11 year old son, Marc Blevins was also injured.

The collision remains under investigation.
