MCCARTHY DROPS OUT OF HOUSE DISTRICT 13 RACE

  

Dan McCarthy of Brenham has dropped out of the race for Texas House District 13, having failed to obtain the 500 signatures he needed to get his name on the ballot.

McCarthy had the option of getting signatures in place of paying the $3,000 filing fee required to be on the ballot.

McCarthy says that his ability to get the needed signatures were greatly reduced due to the number of elections that have occurred during November and December.

The other candidates who have announced they intend to run include Burleson County Attorney Leighton Schubert, Schulenburg businesswoman Becky Berger, and Austin County Judge Carolyn Bilski have until 5pm today to file with the Secretary of State’s office.
