McCAUL REACTS TO OBAMA SPEECH

Local Congressman Rep. Michael McCaul has issued his reaction to President Barak Obama’s declaration that the U.S. will try to destroy ISIS.

McCaul, the chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, calls the President’s address “…a key moment in our continued fight against the terrorism that came to our shores thirteen years ago today.”

The President’s nationally televised address Wednesday night, promised far-reaching impact that could embroil the nation in another Middle East conflict.

McCaul says the group now known as ISIL is—in his words—as much of a threat to our nation as Osama bin Laden was.

McCaul says the group “…continues to recruit and train citizens around the globe to their warped ideology and if we don’t confront this evil now, it is only a matter of time until they conduct an attack in the west or on our shores.”

The President threatened airstrikes on ISIS targets in a major expansion of a campaign in Iraq previously limited to protecting U.S. advisers working with Iraqi forces /

McCaul says as the chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, he has a responsibility to help ensure the nation’s security and intelligence measures are ready to detect and prevent another 9/11 attack.

McCaul says he intends to work closely with Congress and the administration to protect U.S citizens and “our way of life.”
