METH BUST AT TRAFFIC STOP

A promise to call in a drug dog was enough for a Brenham woman to admit to the possession of methamphetamines during a Saturday night traffic stop in the 300 block of West Main.

Brenham Police Officer Mark Pierce, who heads the department’s canine unit, stopped Tracy Ellen Gunter at 9:28pm near a local business. The officer questioned her on whether she had ever been charged with a drug offense and she denied she had.  He became suspicious when a dispatch check discovered a previous conviction. He told her he would call in the drug dog to sniff out any illegal drugs but she allowed the search before the dog was called in.

The search found a small amount of methamphetamines and Gunter was arrested.
