 Prominent Brenham Businessman Mike Hopkins died Monday night at his home.

Hopkins owned and operated Mike Hopkins Distributing for nearly 30 years. He has repeatedly expanded this operation which distributes Budweiser and other Anheuser Bush products.

Hopkins’ son Michael Jr. has been overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company for several years.

Clarence Gerke of Memorial Oaks Chapel said Hopkins had been in ill health for some time when he died Monday night.

Hopkins was also very active in the community, serving on numerous boards and committees.

He also was an active lobbyist in Austin for many years.

He was named the 2008 Washington County Man of the Year.

Funeral services are pending at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Mike Hopkins was 69 years old.

  1. Mike was an amazing man and will be greatly missed in Brenham as well as in the lives he and his incredible family impacted. His legacy of service and generosity won’t be forgotten and we’ll be praying for Nina, Mike, Liz, and the Hopkins family as they deal with their loss.
