MISSION BRENHAM CHANGES LEADERSHIP

Mission Brenham has announced a change of leadership.

Rev. Mike Haywood, who has served as the organization’s Executive Director for six years, was encouraged by the organization's board to "pursue his self-professed passion of teaching and preaching the Word"- according to a newsletter sent to Mission Brenham supporters.

Mission Brenham says under Haywood’s leadership the organization has been positively impacted but since the organization is once again growing, "would benefit from a change in leadership".

During this time of transition, Geneese Wills will serve as the Interim Director. Wills has been Mission Brenham’s Director of Operations for three years and has worked directly under Haywood’s leadership.

Mission Brenham was established in 1994. Initially it was established to create a ministry for low-income people. However the organization’s dynamics changed over the years and now the programs have expanded to meet the needs of every family; regardless of race, social background, ethnicity, or economic status.

  1. Rev. Haywood is a great asset to this community. Mission Brenham is making a mistake here, and, despite the board’s assertion, losing Haywood will benefit no one. Hopefully another community organization will seize on the opportunity and hire him, or sponsor him to create a new one.
