NEW BRENHAM ANIMAL SHELTER OPENS

shelter-dogThe new Brenham animal shelter has opened on Longwood Drive, adjacent to the Police Department building.  Employees were busy today (Tuesday) unpacking boxes and getting moved in.  The animals were brought over Monday from the old shelter on Old Chappell Hill Road.  Construction on the 2.7 million dollar facility began in 2015.  It has separate areas for animal control and pet adoption, so aggressive of diseased animals do not come into contact with animals that are up for adoption.   The shelter also features both indoor and outdoor “life areas” where families and interact with potential adoptive animals.    Currently, the shelter will be open to the public from 10 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday.  Persons interested in volunteering at the new shelter can call 979-337-7351.  A formal grand opening is planned for Monday November 7th at 2 pm.

    1. C A M if u really cared about animals u would volunteer regardless and I will tell u that the city and county cannot afford to have a no kill shelter that would require deep pockets which in turn would mean higher taxes for u and I

      1. Would rather pay taxes to help animals that are neglected by heartless people.
There are others things where taxes can be cut, such as free stuff for lazy people.
