NEW PROGRAM BRINGS MONEY TO COUNTY CLERK’S OFFICE

Washington County Clerk Beth Rothermel told the County Commissioners at today’s (Tuesday’s) meeting that while her office collected some $2000 less in 2013 her office has implemented a new program that is bringing in more funds to the office.

Rothermel, while giving her annual report to the County Commissioners says her criminal clerk is now sending out postcards to those who are more than 30 days behind in paying fines.

In all, the County Clerk’s office brought in $844,305 for the year 2013.  The general county fees accounted for most of that with $610,300.  Records management brought in $41,861.

Rothermel noted that there were 351 births in Washington County last year and 297 deaths.  Her office issued 217 marriage licenses.  Rothermel says there were 21,888 registered voters in Washington County at the end of the year and hopefully ready to vote in the elections this year.
