NEW REPORT SAYS CHESTER JACKSON JR. ASSAULTED JAIL EMPLOYEE

Newly released public records show Chester Jackson, Jr. is accused of assaulting a booking officer during his stay at the Burleson County Jail in April.

Tuesday, an Austin-based law firm representing Burleson County released an offense report, which indicated the 30-year-old Somerville man assaulted the officer on Sunday, April 21st.  This is the same day Jackson was released from jail and taken to a psychiatric hospital in Austin.

No other details of the incident are available in the report, but it does indicate audio and visual recordings were collected as evidence. The booking officer involved in the incident is identified in the report as the same one involved in Jackson’s public intoxication arrest on April 19th.

Back In June, Jackson's attorney, U.A. Lewis, said her client was indicted for felony Assault of a Public Servant, but she did not have details of the offense at that time.

Less than two days after his arrest outside his home in Somerville on a public intoxication charge, Jackson ended up in a hospital on life support. This followed an incident during a brief stay at the Cross Creek psychiatric hospital in Austin.  Jackson continues his recovery to this day.

Last month, a Caldwell police officer resigned from his position after his arrest and indictment for Official Oppression. The indictment stated former Sergeant Robert Baucom knowingly engaged in mistreatment of a restrained person, as he was seen on video pushing the handcuffed Jackson in a jail cell, who hit his head on a toilet.

Investigation by the Texas Rangers found no evidence that the actions of Baucom caused Jackson’s medical condition.
