Two members of the 2015 Brenham Cubs have been named Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-State.

Cubs’ catcher Ryan Newman was named to the First Team.

Newman hit .379 this past season with a .486 on-base average, nine doubles, two home runs, and 22 runs batted in.

Receiving Second Team honors is infielder Sam McElreath.

McElreath hit .439 this past season, with a .553 on-base average, seven doubles, two home runs, 21 runs scored and 21 runs batted in.

Both Newman and McElreath are joined by Cubs teammate Blake Wellmann on the roster for Tuesday’s Houston Area Baseball Coaches Association All-Star game at Baseball USA.

Cubs’ pitcher Dylan Lester will be playing in the HABC Junior All-Star game, Tuesday night.

    1. It happened to my brother-in-law in football. 2nd team all-district, 1st team all-state. Why? Because one of the coaches in the district wanted his QB to be 1st team all-district, so he voted for the worst QB in the district so that another coach would vote on his kid.
