NEWMAN ON WINNING ALL-STAR TEAM IN ROUND ROCK
Former Brenham Cub baseball star Ryan Newman had a hit and drove in a run as the South beat the North in the THSBCA All-Star game, 11-7 at Dell Diamond, Sunday afternoon.
Newman, a four-year starter for the Cubs, went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run batted in in the annual All-Star game presented by the the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association
The game was shortened to eight innings due to rain and a 7:00 first pitch for the Round Rock Express’ game.
Newman hit .391 for the Brenham this season, with nine doubles, two home runs and 23 runs batted in. He also had a .486 on base average and a 1.038 OPS.
Newman has signed to play his college baseball at Texas State.
