  1. There are some shady shady companies here in Brenham that have several positive workers and they are telling their workers to keep it hush hush so the public doesn’t find out. Shame on you Brenham. We are talking well known local companies and also a couple schools/day cares. Brenham you can think that some places are untouched but you are wrong. You are being lied to. Stop throwing parties stop thinking kids can’t get it and stop thinking things are normal! Nothing is normal right now and you need to accept that it won’t be for awhile.

  2. I still don’t think these are accurate numbers. I know several that signed up to be tested, never got tested, and then got email saying they tested positive.. Complete scare tactic. Someone needs to be called out on this.

    1. Yep. I heard the same thing. Just signed up but line was too long so they left. Then got a email. So sad. Wonder why. Can someone please explain

    2. Most of this is a scare tactic.
99.4% or more, of people will not die.
Great odds for a good life.
      Happy Birthday America!
Enjoy all your freedoms, even the one’s they are trying to take away.
      USA USA USA

      1. COVID is not a scare tactic. Believe it or not, it is real and a danger to everyone. There are no “freedoms” being taken away. Just mandates to protect us from getting sick and helping to slow the spread so that we ALL have greater odds of having a good life.

      2. J.D., I’m glad that you are blessed to not know anyone that has suffered and/or succombed to this virus. I guess you need to see to believe. I know 2 people that have passed, 4 that were severely ill, and 5 others that had mild to moderate symptoms so far. Do you really want to risk dying alone or having a family member do so? The rest of the world wore the madks and social distance and are in the road to recovery. Americans today are too self-absorbed and political-contravercy tin-foil headed to believe science. Sad.

        1. Ridiculous, you are correct. Certainly within the last decade, the large majority of Americans have become distrustful and antagonistic towards experts and authorities. In the last six months, a large portion of the American population has become their own experts and own epidemiologists. While the internet can be a quickly accessible form of information gathering, its strength in that aspect is tempered by its weakness that anyone can contribute to it. Currently, the United States with a population of more than 300 million persons, is experiencing a infection rate of about 50,000 new cases of covid-19 per day. In contrast, the European Union, with a population of over 400 million, is only experiencing 3,500 new cases per day. All of the countries in the EU currently either have or have had requirements to wear masks, requirements to stay at home / shelter in place, and have been slow to reopen. Has that made a difference? Well I’ll let the numerical experts calculate the difference. The following of such guidelines also has made a difference. As an example, I have a friend who is 60 years old and who lives in the United Kingdom. He was injured in a shipbuilding accident many years ago, and has had numerous recurring health issues from the surgeries and hospitalizations. As the UK has a national healthcare system, he received a letter in March that stated he was not to leave his home and front yard for the next 15 weeks – – that is, he was not to go to the grocery store, he was not to attend church services, he was not to go visit his children, he was not to leave his home and his home’s enclosed yard. When I spoke to him about 5 weeks into that, his attitude was “well, that’s just the way it’s got to be–just 10 more weeks to go.” My guess is that the majority of people in the United States, if they received such a letter, would say “to hell with this, I’ll do what I want!”. This mentality, is the reason, in part, that we are where we are.

          1. This mentality that you refer to with such disdain is why our country is great. It is called personal responsibility. Try getting into an emergency room in the UK with their wonderful socialized medicine. The fortunate thing for all of us is that the majority of Brenham residents and Texas citizens are self reliant individualists that can make decisions for themselves. The infection rate to which you reference is completely overestimated. All one has to do is go to the CDC website and learn how positive cases are being tabulated. Look at the death rates and the whole death numbers, both coming down. That is what this was about. Now it has turned into, “we cannot let anyone get sick”. That mindset is total insanity. Coronavirus is a cold virus (yes covid 19 is more dangerous) but you cannot prevent folks from catching a cold.
