NO NEW YEAR’S OVERNIGHT FATALITIES

  

Both area offices of the Texas Department of Public Safety report no traffic fatalities for Washington and the surrounding counties as thousands were out ringing in the New Year.

The DPS program called the Combined Accident Reduction Effort, or C.A.R.E., continues through tonight.  The program puts all available troopers out on patrol, strictly enforcing all traffic laws with a special emphasis on DWI, speeding and seat belt violations.  All state law enforcement agencies, including the Brenham Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s office are participating in the program.
