A pool of over 300 citizens has been whittled down to a jury of 12 with two alternates for the capital murder trial of Michael Dixon.

(Washington Co. Jail)

Dixon is charged with the October 2014 murder of Blinn College student Trey Kurtz, whose body was found in the middle of an intersection near downtown Brenham.

Washington County District Attorney Julie Renken and defense attorney Scotty Allen questioned the jury pool throughout most of the day, Monday, before deciding on the 14 jurors.

Opening arguments were scheduled for Tuesday morning as Dixon’s trial got underway at the Washington County Courthouse.

In addition to Dixon, three other suspects have been charged with Kurtz’s murder.

According to Renken, the trial for Deperrion Lott is scheduled for October 15th.  The trial for Jordan Alexander Graves is being considered for March of 2019, while the case of J.B. Wright III is pending, but at this time she is not anticipating the need to try Wright.
