OSHA FINES COMPANIES INVOLVED IN KYLE FIELD DEATH

OSHA has released its report and issued citations in a fatal construction accident at the Kyle Field renovation project in December.

The US Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited both Lindamood Demolition Inc. and Texas Cutting and Coring.

26-year old Lindamood employee, Angel Garcia was killed in the construction accident.

OSHA found a total of five violations.  They fined Lindamood $63,200 for three violation, and Texas Cutting and Coring $67,500 for two more.

OSHA's area director in Austin, Casey Perkins, says the experienced contractors failed to provide employees with safe demolition procedures despite concerns from workers.

The report said that a skid steer loader was over loaded with a concrete stub that someone was cutting with a circular saw when it fell.  Garcia fell over four stories to his death.

Lindamood has been placed on OSHA's "Severe Violator Enforcement Program" which requires follow-up inspections to ensure they're complying with the law.
