OVER 2300 CAST EARLY VOTES IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

Early voting for Tuesday’s Texas Primary has ended.

Washington County Clerk Beth Rothermel says nearly 550 people cast early votes Friday, bringing the total of votes cast to 2,349.

Over 2,000 of the early votes were cast in the Republican Primary, which features the only local contested races.

Those races are for County Court at Law Judge between incumbent Matthew Reue and challenger Eric Berg; and three of the four County Justice of the Peace positions.

In the race for Precinct-2 JP, incumbent Douglas Cone faces challenger Dennis Todd.  Precinct-3 Justice of the Peace Roy May faces the challenge of Ken Toefel.  And, with Precinct-4 JP James McCune stepping down, three candidates are vying for the post: Bill Kendall, Val Keicke and Robin Luedtke.

Election day is Tuesday from 7am to 7pm.  Rothermel says there will be 15 polling sites open.

A list of polling places can be found on the Washington County website, under “County Clerk” and under “Election Information”.  There is also a link to the State under “Find My Polling Place”.

This is the first Texas Election under the new law that requires a photo ID along with your voter registration card.

KWHI will have live coverage of Tuesday’s results beginning at 7:00.
