OVER $3,000 RAISED FOR FOOTBALL BURGLARY VICTIMS

Over $3,000 has been collected to help Brenham Cubs football players whose cars were vandalized and broken into the same day the team was playing for the State Football Championship in Arlington.

When the team returned from the game, they found 11 of the players’ cars had been burglarized.

Some had minor damage, but others had extensive damage including windows smashed, tires and wheels stolen, steering wheels destroyed and numerous items stolen.

The money, being raised by Brenham GameChangers will help with basic costs of the players whose cars were vandalized in December in the high school parking lot.

Heather Thielemann, Co-Director for GameChangers and head of the fundraising effort, says they are still receiving donations at this time, and will be working with the families to make sure their needs are covered and the students are in compliance with UIL rules. The kids are submitting their out of pocket costs to GameChangers by the end of this week, and they will disburse funds in the next couple of weeks.

The Brenham GameChangers account is set up at Bank of Brenham for anyone that would like to donate the funds or donations can be sent to: 1410 Allison Street, Brenham in c/o Brenham GameChangers. Their email is: brenhamgamechangers@gmail.com.

Brenham Police have not yet made any arrests in the case.

Washington County Crime Stoppers has offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrests and convictions of those responsible.  The Crime Stoppers number 836-TIPS (8477).
