PANTHERS SEASON END WITH HEART-BREAKING LOSS

The Burton Panthers’ 2018 season came to a heart-breaking end, falling in the Region IV/2A DII final, 30-28 to Falls City.

The Panthers (10-3) thought they had kicked a game-winning 27-yard field goal on the game’s final play.  However, Falls City Head Coach Britt Hart had called a time out just before the snap, forcing the Panthers to try again.  The second attempt missed, sending the Beavers on to the State Semi-Finals.

The Panthers took the early lead, on Caleb Harmel’s 41-yard touchdown pass to Tristan Brantley.

  1. I have been privileged to spend most of this season with these young men as the team chaplain. They showed their community their character and heart Thursday night. They gave everything they had and kept on giving Falls City all they could handle.
Thank you, Seniors for setting such a good example for the classes who will follow you. You have set the bar high.
Also, thank you Coach Hodde and the rest of the coaching staff for your leadership and commitment for these young men. They will be better men because of you.
Thank you Burton ISD and the Burton community for supporting your team and your school. This season has been one to remember.

  2. I couldn’t be prouder of these young men from Burton. They fought hard all game, and didn’t quit. And even though we didn’t win, I was amazed to see the dignity and honor shown by these awesome players after the game was over. I makes me proud to be a Burton parent and fan, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for these graduating seniors and the underclassmen. This was an amazing team. Thank you to Coach Hodde and the Burton coaching staff, you’ve done a good job with these young men.
