Two people face charges after their unrelated arrests Tuesday for drug possession.

Tuesday afternoon around 12:30 p.m., Officer Terrence Johnson conducted a traffic stop in the 2400 block of South Day St.

During the stop, the driver agreed to a search, which turned up promethazine.

The driver was released to the care of EMS for medical reasons, while a passenger, 23-year old Micah Arthus Zech of Brenam was arrested and charged with possession of a dangerous drug.

(UPDATE 5-16-2022: District Attorney Julie Renken reports that all charges were dropped in the following case in 2016.)

Tuesday morning, around 8:30, Officer Jonathan Phipps conducted a traffic stop in the 2100 block of Highway 290 West.

During the course of the stop, the driver consented to a search.

Inside a makeup bag, Phipps located methamphetamines. A passenger, 23-year old Kaylie Jordan Coates of Houston, claimed the bag as hers but said the drugs belonged to someone else.

Coates has been charged with Possession of a controlled substance.
