POSSIBLE ANNEXATIONS RAISES QUESTIONS

The Brenham City Council began at today’s (Thursday’s) meeting,  the process that could eventually enlarge the city’s boundaries by about 403 acres.  City Secretary Julie Fulgham told the City Council that the area is mostly along highway 36 south and FM 332 out to FM 389 and Industrial Road.  The annexation would not significantly increase the city’s population but Fulgham said many of the property owners will need to get agricultural exemptions.

Perry Thomas who lives along some of the proposed areas asked for clarity about the agricultural  exemptions and their costs.

City Manager Terry Roberts says the annexations still have a long way to go.  The resolution passed at today’s (Thursday’s) meeting will allow the City Council to review the finalized list of properties of the proposed to be annexed as well as the proposed development agreements to be offered to the property owners.
