  1. KWHI apologizes for the two posts that mentioned employees of the City of Brenham. Neither is involved in this event, nor is the City of Brenham involved. The person who posted those comments will no longer be allowed to make comments on the KWHI website.

For those of you wondering, this event is organized by PFLAG…Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays…which is a support group. Some of the comments on this story make it more apparent why there is a need for such a support group….to deal with the awful hate that is thrown their way. KWHI does not condone or allow hate messages to be posted on our website. So if your message did not appear on this story, you now know why.

  2. The silent majority that supports traditional moral values prevails over the blabbering minority that promotes their unpopular beliefs on social media.

  3. To each it’s own I would be there but work called first? God also the greatest of them all is love.None of you can judge what you should do is pray

  4. My question why is this going on it makes me upset to these type of events in Brenham this is not about the Gay Community its about Honoring Jesus Christ My Freedom of Speech Opinion

  5. In case anyone wonders like I did, PFLAG stands for Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays.

    1. I’m just going to point this out. Why are we having a picnic for gays and lesbians? I have nothing against them, and they are normal people. So why are we treating them special, when we’re all the same? Where’s the straight pride picnic, or where’s the pipeline workers picnic, or where’s the doctor’s and physician’s picnic? If you give a mouse a cookie ..

      1. It is an organization sponsoring a picnic in support of the LGBTQ community including supporting allies & family members. If a doctor’s or pipeliners organization wants to have a picnic, then they can. Perhaps you could find one & organize the event for them. I’d be happy to attend one in support as well.

      2. First, none of the groups you mentioned are marginalized groups. When the pipeline workers are told who they can love and marry, then come back and you may have an argument. Second, those groups that you mentioned are free to have picnics and do so without opposition.

        1. Marginalized groups, REALLY! LBGTQ people can marry, adopt and raise kids, vote, use television and movies to actively promote their lifestyle of choice, and the EEOC has decided that Title IIV applies to them in employment matters. This is hardly what I would call “marginalized”. They have demanded that society treat them equally with everyone else, well, you have arrived. Some may not agree with your lifestyle choice, but you are treated equally in the eyes of the law, and practically by most people Start acting like normal people and stop celebrating someone’s choice of a sexual partner. Enough is enough!

          1. Oh you are so wrong. In the state of Texas, it is actually legal to discriminate against LGBTQ. A bill was passed that allowed specific adoption agencies to deny prospective parents. Apartments can also deny rental. Every session, bills are brought up against the LGBTQ community & some are passed. Do your research. This is about more than a partner & getting married.

  6. When it’s your kid, love wins which promotes acceptance. Acceptance promotes exposure. Kinder, nicer people than in the average populus are right here. This is nice to see in Brenham. Will hopefully be able to visit. Great job organizers..

      1. There were those who once interpreted the bible to be acceptance of slavery. If you are a Christian, try remembering the “Love thy neighbor” passage. Love knows no man imposed boundries. Insults and hatred are a weak man’s imitation of strength.

          1. How is having a picnic with your neighbor celebrating sin? Also, Christ did not ask us to be the sin police, he simply asked us to love one another. Judging others for their sins is not our job, and frankly you are not qualified to determine a sin or a sinner. If your sins were out in the open, would you have a picnic with yourself, or are you only interested in throwing stones at those who are different from you?

  7. Too bad people are taking pride in what the Bible and historical Christianity says is a shame. As a minister this grieves me.

  8. This is remarkable news. I am so disappointed I will be out of town and unable to attend. I hope everyone has a wonderful time.

    1. The “ silent majority”. Is anything but silent and thankfully, is shrinking. All traditions had a beginning. Moral values are really personal choices, not societies. Moral values do not enter into the love all humans ( should ) have for each other. Defending maybe a better choice of words than “blabbering “, Love and how and with whom it is expressed should never need defending. And “ the greatest of these is love”.
