RABIES ALERT ISSUED IN BRENHAM

  

Brenham Animal Control has issued another Rabies Alert.

Back on May 18th a skunk was destroyed at around 10:00 am near the 1400 block of Sandy Street.

The skunk was tested by the Department of State Health Services and was found to be positive for rabies.

Anyone who thinks they or someone else may have come in contact with this animal, is asked to call Brenham Animal Control at 979-337-7592, or the Department of State Health Services Zoonosis Control at 254-778-6744.

Officials are reminding citizens that it’s important to make sure animals are currently vaccinated against Rabies.

  1. All the alerts under the sun can be issued, but if no one is there to assist it does no good. I assisted an elderly woman in the county who had tried for 3 days to get help with a skunk who wandered into a live trap a family member had placed in her flower bed in the middle of the day & could not find any. Her family was out of town & she had no neighbors to assist. Animal control & sherriff’s department refused to help….leaving an 80+ year old woman to fend for herself with a probable rabid skunk.
