ROCKETS/WIZARDS MAKE BLOCKBUSTER DEAL

The Houston Rockets and Washington Wizards have agreed to trade disgruntled point guards, Russell Westbrook and John Wall, in a blockbuster deal, announced Wednesday.

The Wizards are sending Wall and a lottery-protected 2023 first-round draft pick to the Rockets for Westbrook in a deal that both players wanted and had been simmering for weeks.

For the Rockets, there's hope that the exchange of guards will play a role in convincing James Harden, to stay long term. Harden has asked for a trade.

Westbrook was a third-team All-NBA selection during his lone season with the Rockets, averaging 27.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game, following 11-years in Oklahoma City.

Westbrook, 32, has $133 million over three seasons remaining on his contract, with a player option for the final year.

Wall, 30, hasn't played since Dec. 26, 2018, missing two seasons with injuries to his Achilles tendon and knee.

  1. These athletes are supposed to be role models for young kids and at the first sign of adversity, they want out. Get offered $50 million a year and turn it down because that’s not enough. Rich, spoiled brats! How about putting some effort in for a championship instead of trying to play with your buddies all on max contracts?!? All of these guys are SOFT.

    1. The guy in question has been with Houston since 2012. Took the Rockets to the Conference Finals twice, won an MVP award, finished in the top 2/3 of the MVP voting almost every season. I think it’s safe to say he put in work. Also, he hasn’t come out and said he demanded a trade at any point. Don’t believe everything national sports writers put out.
