RUNWAY WAVINESS BECOMES A PRIORITY AT BRENAM’S AIRPORT

The waviness on the north end of the runway has become a priority according to the Brenham Airport Advisory Board.  At their meeting Wednesday evening, board members discussed the ongoing problem.  The bumps have been corrected in years past, but have always returned and have recently become worse.  A representative from TxDOT will be in Brenham today (Thursday) to inspect the problem and see if it will qualify for emergency funding.

Board members also discussed a number of other issues including upgrading the runway lighting, drainage issues at both the north and south ends of the field, bringing three phase power to the airport and updating the development plan for the airport.  Cost estimates for each of the projects will be gathered and presented to the board at their next meeting.  The board will prioritize the projects and present them to city council for consideration during their budget process.

The board also heard a request from Brent Nedbalek for a land lease on the south end of the field.  Nedbalek is looking to construct one or possibly two large hangers to expand his business, Aviators Plus.  Engineers with the city will look at the available space and present the options at the next Airport Advisory Board meeting scheduled for March 20th.
