SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR ALL LOCAL ENTITIES IN JULY

  

Washington County, Brenham and Burton all showed modest increases in sales and tax distributions this month.

In July, Washington County received $260,182, a 9.6 percent increase from last July, when the county received $237,000.  Through 2019 so far, the county has received $1,874,725, up 13.1 percent from last year’s $1,656,279 over the same period.

Brenham’s rebate in July was $603,252, up 12.2 percent from the $537,509 the city received last July.  So far in 2019, the city has received $4,040,379, compared to $3,718,736 through this point last year, an 8.6 percent increase.

Burton received $6,465 in July, up 11 percent from last July’s payment of $5,822.  So far this year, Burton has received $47,697, 14.5 percent above the $41,629 it received at this point last year.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported the state paid out $764.3 million in July, up 0.7 percent from last July, and up 4.7 percent for the year to this point.
