SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR BRENHAM AND WASHINGTON CO., DOWN FOR BURTON

  

Both Brenham and Washington County experienced moderate increases in sales and tax distributions this month.

June’s rebate for Washington County was $288,913, up 26.7 percent from the $227,991 payment it received last June.  So far in 2019, the county has received $1,614,542, up 13.7 percent from the $1,418,896 it received at this point last year.

Brenham received $606,480 in June, a 30.7 percent increase from last June’s payment of $463,936.  Through 2019 so far, the city has received $3,437,127, up 8 percent from last year’s $3,181,226 over the same period.

Burton’s June rebate was $6,052, down 2.3 percent from last June, when it received $6,201.  To date, Burton has received $41,232, 15.1 percent above its total at this point last year of $35,807.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported the state paid out $782.1 million in June, up 10.1 percent from last June, and up 5.3 percent for the year so far.
