SCARECROW FESTIVAL UNDERWAY IN CHAPPELL HILL

The 42nd annual Chappell Hill Scarecrow Festival is underway.

Taking place today (Saturday) and tomorrow, the town of Chappell Hill will be lined with vendors offering a wide variety of goods, including arts and crafts, jewelry, handmade art, and refreshments.

Hosted by the Chappell Hill Historical Society, many of its historic buildings will be open through the weekend, including the Museum which is hosting a World War I 100th Anniversary Exhibit, in coordination with the Brenham Heritage Museum.

The Festival’s entertainment lineup features Abigail Taylor, Julia Hatfield, and the Ballet Folklorico Herencia Mexicana de Houston, which will be performing a Dia de Los Muertos Dance Saturday.

This year’s winning scarecrow entries will be on display through downtown and the surrounding area.

First Place goes to the Shabby Cupboard Deli and Fine Foods, Second Place to Eddie and Janis Kmiec, Third Place to Sally Gaines, and Kids Entry Winner is Urijah Crouch.  All entries and their locations can be found at www.chappellhillhistoricalsociety.com.

The festival runs through 6 p.m. today, and reopens on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Parking is available for $5, off Highway 290 and FM 1155, or off of FM 2447.  Entry to the festival is free.
