SECOND DOG ATTACK IN COUNTY OCCURES IN LESS THAN A MONTH

The second dog attack of a child has occurred in Washington County in less than a month.  According to Sheriff Otto Hanak, on Saturday, at approximately 5:30 pm, Deputies responded to an animal bite call on Tonckawa Hills Lane in which a 4 year old child suffered dog bites at his residence.  In January, a 5 year old was attacked by several dogs at his grandmother’s house in Washington County and was transported to Texas Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

In Saturday’s incident, responding deputies and EMS personnel located the child whom had been bitten multiple times by two family owned dogs described as the German Shepherd breed.  According to family members, the child and others were playing in the front yard when the dogs managed to exit the back yard fencing and attack the child.  The child was initially transported to Texas Children’s Hospital in Katy and later transported by aircraft to Texas Children’s Hospital main campus in Houston, where he remains in critical but stable condition. The two dogs were surrendered by the owners to Brenham Animal Shelter due to the aggressive nature of the two animals. The incident is being investigated by Washington County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Mike McAnally.

  1. The county does nothing to help unless you live in the city limits. I called about 21 hungry dogs they were not being fed and they did nothing. We had to risk injury removing them our selves. And the owner was not happy.

    1. For county animal issues (which mainly are large animal and multiple animal cases) it works best contacting the Humane Society. They have the equiment and resources to better handle situations like that
