SHERIFF REPORTS: RABID SKUNK AND SCAM

The Washington County Sheriff’s office has two immediate concerns that the public needs to know about.

A skunk found in the 5100 block of Lange Lake Road has tested positive for rabies.  The skunk was destroyed in the back yard of a residence and the direction of travel was not determined.

The Sheriff’s office says that if you know of someone who may have been in contact with this skunk to call them at 277 6251 or 277 6250.  You can also call the Texas Department of State Health Services Animal Control at 1 778 254 6744.

Chief Deputy Jay Petrash has yet another concern.  He says the Sheriff’s office has received several calls from people saying someone is calling them and identifying themselves as a Sheriff’s deputy.  The person then says they failed to report to jury duty and they have to pay a fine to get out of trouble.  Petrash says this is not their procedure and if you receive such a call to call the Sheriff’s office at 2776252.
