STATE BOARD DENIES PAROLE FOR ABIGAIL YOUNG
The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles has denied parole for a Brenham woman convicted in the death of her four-year-old daughter.
Abigail Young was denied parole by the board today (Friday), which will require her to serve another year of her 20-year sentence for Injury to a Child by Omission.
Young, along with her boyfriend, Lucas Coe, were convicted for their roles in the violent death of Emma Thompson in 2009. Coe was sentenced to life in prison.
The ruling came following pushback from the paternal family of Thompson, who demanded that Young serve the full 20 years of her sentence.
Amanda Young Mathews, Abigail Young's sister and Emma Thompson’s aunt, says while the fight for Thompson is not over, she is pleased with the board’s decision.
The board had until August 1st to make a decision on Young’s parole. Representatives with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice say it will likely be mid-July or early August when her parole decision comes up again next year.
I am oh so glad that her parole was denied, she is truly guilty of murder by omission and she should have been sentenced to life in prison but since she wasn’t , she should have to spend every hour of her sentence. Thank goodness she was denied!
