STATEWIDE WARRANT ROUNDUP APPROACHING

Statewide law enforcement agencies and courts are once again conducting the Great Texas Warrant Roundup.

The roundup is designed to target thousands of defendants with warrants from more than 300 participating jurisdictions. Agencies including Brenham’s Municipal Court and Washington County Sheriff’s Office will take part in the roundup.  These agencies will step up efforts to actively serve warrants starting Saturday, March 9th.

Under state law, people that come before a court and make a good faith effort to take care of their outstanding Class C warrants are not subject to arrest. In addition, if a judgment is rendered against a person unable to pay the judgment, he or she can ask a judge to consider their ability to pay and offer other means to satisfy the judgment.

Anyone with warrants is encouraged to contact the courts that issued them to resolve their cases voluntarily, before they are bound to appear by arrest.

Additional information is available by contacting Brenham Municipal Court or City Marshal Mark Pierce at 979-337-7599, or by visiting http://cityofbrenham.org.
