STRONG START FOR EARLY VOTING IN PRIMARY ELECTIONS

Early voting for the March primaries is off to a strong start in Washington County.

The first day of early voting saw 223 voters cast ballots in the Republican primary and 47 voters in the Democratic primary, totaling 270 in-person early voters Tuesday.

When comparing to past elections, Tuesday’s first-day totals surpassed that of the 2016 presidential primary election and the 2014 and 2018 gubernatorial primary elections.

2014’s primary election drew 163 early voters on the first day of voting, 2016 had 161, and 2018 saw 246.

County Clerk Beth Rothermel encourages voters to not wait until the last few days of early voting to come to the Washington County Courthouse Annex and cast their ballots, as that time could prove to be very busy.

Early voting continues today (Wednesday) through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m.  Early voting continues through next Friday, February 28th, with the primary elections on March 3rd.
