Charges have been filed against the man accused of shooting a Fayette County Sheriff's Deputy in the face.

The suspect, identified as Shazizz Mateen, is facing four charges of Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant.

During a four hour standoff last Thursday, Mateen allegedly opened fire on law enforcement authorities who were attempting to serve a warrant.

Mateen was charged with failing to register as a sex offender. One of the bullets hit Deputy CJ Lehmann in the head.

As a result, Lehmann lost his left eye and doctors are still trying to save his right eye.

Lehmann has more surgery scheduled for later this week. The sheriff's office says he still has a long road of recovery ahead.

  1. The damage this individual has caused is enormous, I sincerely hope that if he is found guilt after a legal and proper judicial proceeding that they will “throw the book” at this guy and set an example that you cannot attack law enforcement without paying the heaviest of price.
